Summary

I am a professional Liberian with in-depth experience in financial management, grant management, project management, , risk management, and capacity building. I am a proactive manager with 15 years experience working with diverse institutions including non-governmental organizations, the United Nations, and the Government of Liberia. Currently, I am the Finance and Administrative Manager at the Sustainable Development Institute (Friends of the Earth International Liberia). At the Sustainable Development Institute, I lead a dynamic team to solve real live problems that delivers quality and timely results.


I have a Master’s degree in Finance and have been trained in the application of International Accounting Standards. I am a student member of the Association of Chattered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and currently writing ACCA papers. I also desire continuous learning and improvement.

· Work closely with the Program Coordinators to ensure that project specific financial reports are prepare and submitted in a timely manner to donors. .

· Ensure compliance to SDI Institutional and donors specific (USAID, FDCO, EU, NORAD, etc) financial management rules and regulations.

· Ensure that annual financial and audit are prepare and published, for the benefit stakeholders and the public in a timely manner.

· Prepare and present performance reports detailing administrative and financial issues to the Management Team on a quarterly basis, highlighting significant deviation from forecast plans, risk are finding opportunities identified by the program teams.

· Prepare and present performance report to programs team on a monthly basis, focusing on expenditure against the total budget, cash flow, and project/ donor found management.

· Monitor and interpret cash flow, identifying, liquidity problems or funding gaps.

· Manage financial, program, and institutional risk within the framework of SDI's risk management policy. Maintain an updated risk registrar and submit monthly risk update, based on SDI Risk Matrix to the Management Team.

· Maintain staff funding grid to ensure all staff are adequately budgeted and planned for.

· Support management in the development of strategic and long term planning.

· Ensure a an effective internal control system to facilitate preparation of credible financial reports, management reports, and audit.

· Donor contract management – including having a deep understanding of all live contracts, providing training to others in the organization where necessary and ensuring organizational compliance with all requirements.

· Develop relationships with all contacts, including bankers, auditors, donors etc.

· Lead on and developing the annual budgeting process- to include the production and maintenance of the template support to terms in producing budgets, consolidation of organization budgets, analysis and presentation to management.

· Provide training for finance and administrative support staff. Develop and implement staff capacity building plans based on individual needs assessments.

· Keep up to date with changes in financial regulation and legislation.

Accomplishments

1. As a local staff, I managed the ILO Liberia Project Office during the Ebola Crisis without supervision of international staff/senior staff in Country. This led to a very positive performance appraisal.

2. Successfully implemented along with a colleague, the Protection of Community Collective Customary Land Rights Project in Liberia. This was implemented by SDI with funding from the Tenure Facility. This pilot led to two successful projects.

3. Migrated SDI financial accounting system from a manual excel system to a full cloud based Quickbooks accounting system.

4. Developed financial management training manuals for training of Community Forest Management Committees in Affected Forest Communities under the SDI Forest Governance Program.

5. Developed SDI first Safeguarding policy.

Additional Information

I received a Certificate in Good Safeguarding by attending an in-person training in London, the United Kingdom in November 2019. The Training was conducted by BOND, Society Building, 8 All Saints Street, London, United Kingdom (bong.org.uk). Topics covered during the training included:

· Key safeguarding standards;

· Safeguarding Risk Assessment;

· Recruitment and safeguarding;

· Child protection and whistle blowing.


As a result of the training, I am now the Integrity Focal Person for the Sustainable Development Institute. I also serve on the Integrity Working Group for the Green Livelihood Alliance (GLA).
